About Dr. Patel

Dr. Rahul Patel is a highly trained Board-Certified Podiatric foot and ankle surgeon who is also on the forefront of the world's most advanced medical breakthroughs as a regenerative medicine specialist using stem cells/bone marrow aspirate concentrate, and amniotic tissue grafts. He was the the first surgeon at New York Presbyterian Queens to introduce stem cell grafting for foot surgery. He also serves as a committee member on the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery as one of 50 item writers across the country writing questions for the national surgical board certification exams and LEAD exams. Despite being trained in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, he also focuses on non-surgical podiatric needs such as foot & ankle injuries, tendinitis, diabetic foot care, heel pain, ingrown/fungal toenails, warts and other skin disorders. He is trained in kinesio taping, therapeutic exercises that involve functional body work that include the entire axial skeleton to work synergistically with the lower extremity and also works with Hypervolt gun technology in his office for therapeutic percussive treatment to increase bloodflow, reduce scar tissue and release muscle tension. He is also trained in ultrasound usage for in-office musculoskeletal diagnosis as well as injection guidance. Lastly, not only does he taps into eastern medicine principles and homeopathic type treatments in conjunction with his western medicine training, but he also has an extensive knowledge in proper footwear for runners, basketball, and tennis athletes which he uses as part of his comprehensive treatment protocols.

Dr. Patel graduated from undergrad at NYU concentrating in Biochemistry and was a part-time teaching assistant in calculus, organic chemistry and physics. He then graduated the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 2001 with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree. He began a comprehensive 4 year residency program at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, New York, finishing as chief resident in July 2005 and earning Chief Resident of The Year honors among nearly 50 peers. His surgical training encompassed everything from bunions and hammertoes to trauma and clubfoot deformities.

Dr. Patel has also lectured at various hospitals and in 2001, provided abstracts for the Compendium of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and regularly volunteers at health fairs for the economically underserved.

In his spare time he enjoys playing sports, reading, traveling, concert going (you may run into him at an EDM show!) and watching movies. His background as a basketball hooper and tennis player comes in handy when he's treating his athletes!  Lastly he's also a big pop culture guy who is into comics, videogaming, sci-fi and even goes to Comic-Con!

Dr. Patel was very helpful. I have been feeling the pain in my foot for so long and I came in one day and he made it feel better in a couple weeks. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis which is very painful but with a few injection and massages it feels better, now all I have to do I stretch. Thank you so much Dr. Patel for your patience and help.

Dr. Rahul Patel is a miracle worker! I was totally incapacitated with excruciating heel pain for over a month (Plantar Fasciitis). But, after seeing Dr. Patel, I walked out of his office practically pain free on the first visit! He is extremely knowledgeable, and thorough in his examination. Unlike many doctors, he does not rush. He is really kind and compassionate. He is also skillful in his treatment of diabetic patients with foot problems. In short, I highly recommend Dr. Rahul Patel. He is definitely a very special doctor.

I was referred to Dr. Patel by a family member who raved about his service. I scheduled an appointment as I began to have heel pain and he surely did not disappoint. He is very thorough and honest, kind and knowledgeable. He even made receiving injections a little less painful as much as he possible can. With Dr. Patel you are definitely in good hands. With his help, I look forward to getting back to 100%.
